Great Kids!!

I've just had both my kids at home for the Weekend. I just love it when they're together and enjoying each others company - reminds me when they were younger!!

I'm so grateful for having two fantastically talented and wonderful kids!!

In-Laws

I've just finished having Sunday evening tea around my In-laws. Somehow we managed to get on the subject of this particular blog.

After having a quick browse through some of the most recent items, my mother-in-law wanted to know why she hadn't been featured in any of the posts.

Well that's a good question - why hadn't she? Maybe its because she wasn't exciting enough or maybe it's just because I'd forgotten to add her in.

Well the truth of the matter is (and I'm back-tracking fast now), I didn't want to post any pictures without gaining their kind permission first.

So now that I have their blessing, ladies and gentleman - please allow me to introduce to you the fantastic Joy & Fred, my Mother and Father In-law!

Nice picture don't you think, which should definitely put me in her good books!!

Rachey's Home

How are you feeling today?

For myself it's one of those neutral days I neither feel good nor bad, excited or depressed. I suppose you could say, I'm feeling rather balanced and I recognise that's a nice place to be.

I know that I'm feeling good because there is nothing at present that I desire. I don't want a holiday, a new car or house. I'm just grateful for what I already have.

Possibly one of the reasons for this, is that my daughter Rachel is once again living at home. It's wonderful to once again have a complete family all under one roof.

One of the best feelings in the World!

Family Harmony.

Jason's 20th Birthday

Today it's my son's birthday and I have to say that it really seems like yesterday since Jason was born. (Where has the time gone, - I expect all parents say that though.)

This morning we've been to Norwich as he wanted to buy a new guitar with some birthday money. This has been somewhat a tradition, something that we've done together on his 16th and 18th birthday and of course today as well.

So when it comes to buying a guitar, he's the expert and I haven't got a clue - it's almost a foreign language to me. However for all you guitar freaks out there who understand about guitars etc. - what I do know is that he's purchased a Taylor acoustic worth about £450.00 and I have to add it makes a pretty good sound as well.

Happy 20th Birthday Jason

Vic's Pic's

Victor Richard Ducker 1919 ~ 2007

Today, sadly is the first anniversary of my Father passing away, he was 87 years old.

As I think back to his funeral, many people paid tribute and remembered him for being a real kind 'gentleman' with a good heart and lovely smile. That's also how I like to remember him.

In fact I can honestly say that I can never recall a time when my dad ever became angry or upset he was always happy, especially in his later years.

When he was young man he served in the British Army during the second world-war with the Royal Artillery. During that time he did what most others had to do at the age of 18 or 19 years old, to serve their 'King and Country' in order to help make Britain and the world a better place.

As a young boy myself, I always remember my dad as being so calm and taking everything in his stride, if there was any squaring up to be done it was usually sorted out by my mother. (Maybe he'd already witnessed the worst of what human nature can dish up and decided to be at peace with himself and toward others.)

Apart from being an outstanding Father and Grandfather he was a man who could almost turn his hand to anything and his garden shed reflected just that, he collected everything including the kitchen sink. I often joked to him - that he should at least clean the shed out before he departed this life, so I didn't have to do it. We always laughed about that.

What many people didn't realise, Vic was also a superb artist. I have a collection of his work, which has never been displayed or exhibited to the public, so I thought I would pay my own little tribute to him today by showing off some of his fantastic drawings.

Can you guess what his favourite subject was?

Dad - We all miss you very much.
